FORT LAUDERDALE – Due to an accident involving a motorcycle south of the Fort Lauderdale Tri-Rail Station, all train traffic has been temporarily stopped. A bus bridge has been set up between the Fort Lauderdale and Fort Lauderdale Airport stations, said Tri-Rail’s Bonnie Arnold.
Two people were killed Friday morning when the motorcycle they were on went off a highway bridge and landed on the CSX Railroad tracks below, a police official told www.Sunsentinel.com.
The crash happened about 7:30 a.m. in the area of Interstate 95, I-595 and State Road 84.
The incident is expected to affect commuters using Tri-Rail for the rest of Friday morning, according to Arnold.
“We’re advising people to seek alternate means of transportation,” Arnold said.
Tri-Rail is operating, but is experiencing system-wide delays of at least 30 minutes.
A bus bridge is ferrying passengers between Tri-Rail’s airport station, near Griffin Road and I-95 and the downtown Fort Lauderdale station near Broward Boulevard and I-95.
